Coaching and Mentoring are terms that are often used interchangeably however there are significant differences between the two.

According to the CIPD Coaching and Mentoring factsheet, Coaching targets high performance and improvement at work and usually focuses on specific skills and groups. Mentoring however is about providing off-line help from one person to another in making significant transitions in knowledge, work or thinking.
